Possible Comic- Driving in Attomatic Gear. No, that's not a typo. The main character's name is 'Atto'. The comic would be in grayscale, except for certain colors and the text bubbles where the color was said. For instance, Bubble's Sky Blue eyes would be in color for the rest of the comic, and so on. This is because Atto is colorblind, aside from randomly seeing a few colors (like Katty's halo and Bubble's eyes.) It's an idea I felt would best be described in comic form. Thoughts?

I like the idea of colorless, but being grayscale makes me mad due to my own partial colorblindness. So mad that I want to punch a baby.

EDIT: Also, since there's only a limited number of colors in a grayscale, some stuff (like the sprites and BGs) might start blending in, which isn't a good thing.

reminds me of that other grayscale comic you started but cancelled with damaru

Hmmm... The only way that someone would actually see like that is if (assuming humanoid eye configuration) a sudden genetic mutation removed all the cone cells from the person's eyes, leaving only rods which mainly give black/white sight. (Night vision.)

However, in order to be able to see only certain kinds of color, I don't think that you can rely on the standard mix of cone cells (sensitivity peaks for blue, green, and orange)--those would allow at least some amount of normal color (that is, not specific). What the character'll probably need are special cone cells, sensitive only to specific light frequencies, with a very small sensitivity range (~25 nm should do), so that they only show the colors that you want the character to see. However, you'll still have the problem of other things that are that color being visible in color to the character (such as Atto would be able to see the color of the sky, as the girl's iris color is the color of the sky).

Just some thoughts.

Oh it's Niv's world. Logic doesn't usually tend to follow. Most likely it's some magical reason or something.

Sounds good to me. Better than Periodicly at least.

In most of our worlds, logic doesn't need to matter- as long as it works the way we like it to.

Muehehehe, that's my logic, and it works for me~

@Ray: Whilst you're on the subject of logically explaining things, care to explain how Ray can control electricity, everything having to make sense 'n' all?

Back on subject, whilst greyscale can seem like a good idea, it hinders you alot. For example, as it's already been said, certain characters will blend in to certain backgrounds. Add that to the fact that at times it can be just plain dull to look at comic after comic. I know there'll be small amounts of colour in there to make it less... monotone, but still.

@Dregan: He's got whopping huge tasers. One end from him, the other end on whoever he wants to shock.

I think it's great. It really adds feeling and emotion.

@Valor: The fact that dogs are colorblind is INCORRECT. They can see color but it is muted, in other words duller and less brilliant.

Dreggy, contrary to what you might think, Rayz is not Ray Zarra. Sadly.

Also, I'm not sure anyone will say this, but when SJ got their new forum, I lost all the sprites I was PM'd. So if you did PM them over, could you re-send them? T'would be greatly appreciated.

it's a really interesting way to tell a story.

I say go for it. I would love to see where this is going.

@Dregan: You didn't know that I was separate from Ray Zarra? Sorry about that. Rayz's my screename in multiple places, thought I'd use it here. I thought I explained that earlier...
@Shard: You're not happy to see me? *sad face*

Rayz isn't Ray Zarra? Oh yeah, I keep forgetting... 'Afroman'...
So yeah, I'll just pretend I knew that all along every time I've ever seen you comment on anything. You may have explain the 'Rayz' thing earlier, although I'm not exactly an SJ veteran, so I probably missed it.
